Profile – About VI Training

VI Training is a specialised Warrant of Fitness (WoF) and Certificate of Fitness (CoF) / Light PSV training provider, dedicated to producing high-quality, competent vehicle inspectors.

Established in 2015, VI Training has built a reputation for excellence by helping trainee inspectors prepare for and successfully pass their NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) final assessments.

With an impressive 95% success rate, the majority of trainees who complete a VI Training course go on to achieve their NZTA certification on the first attempt. Our focus is on effective, hands-on learning, ensuring every trainee gains both the technical skills and regulatory knowledge needed to perform real-world inspections confidently.

To support continued success, VI Training maintains close communication with both trainees and their sponsors through regular progress updates — helping to track performance, measure readiness, and maximise each participant’s potential for success.

The Instructor – Meet Andrei Szabo

Andrei Szabo, owner-operator of VI Training Ltd, leads both the online and practical components of our Warrant of Fitness (WoF) and Certificate of Fitness (CoF) training programmes across New Zealand.

With over 20 years of experience in the mechanical and vehicle inspection industry, Andrei has held inspection authorities for Heavy CoF-B, Light PSV CoF-A, and continues to hold his WoF inspection authority. His background gives trainees the advantage of learning from someone who has worked extensively in the field and understands the challenges inspectors face daily.

Before founding VI Training, Andrei transitioned into vocational education, where he discovered his passion for teaching others about vehicle compliance, inspection standards, and regulatory procedures. His blend of hands-on inspection experience and in-depth training expertise makes him one of New Zealand’s most respected educators in the WoF and CoF inspection sector.

Practical Training Sessions – Hands-On WoF and CoF Experience

At VI Training, our practical training sessions are designed to give trainees real-world experience in performing Warrant of Fitness (WoF) and Certificate of Fitness (CoF) inspections. Under the guidance of our experienced instructor, trainees learn how to use inspection equipment safely and competently, identify potential faults, and apply correct inspection standards.

Each session includes hands-on guidance, expert technique demonstrations, and proven strategies to help participants prepare confidently for NZTA assessments.

Our practical training options are flexible and tailored to suit different learning needs — from new trainee inspectors seeking foundational skills to current or prospective workshop employees requiring refresher training, competency checks, or upskilling opportunities.
